I’m currently working on bakeTools, a Maxscript tool that helps automate much of the baking process in 3ds Max. It currently supports baking Normal, Ambient Occlusion, and Mask maps and is focused on the game artists workflow and needs. A release should be coming soon, but until then check out a screenshot of it:
